Ovarian cancer is a disease that affects an estimated 1 out of 69 women. There are a few different types:
- Ovarian epithelial cancer (this is the most common type)
- Ovarian germ cell cancer
- Low malignant potential ovarian cancer.
Once a diagnosis is confirmed, the stage is determined -- or the extent to which the disease has spread, if at all. This information is important because it helps determine a woman's treatment plan. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy are all methods of treating this condition, and many women use a combination of these things.
