What If I Overdose on This Drug?

An overdose with this medication can be quite dangerous, and has even been reported to cause death. Seek immediate medical attention if you may have used too much melphalan.

Storage Information

Melphalan tablets should be stored refrigerated, in their original container, and protected from light. Melphalan injection is normally stored by your healthcare provider. It is stored at room temperature, protected from light.
 
Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children and pets.
 

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose of Melphalan?

If you forget to take your dose of melphalan tablets, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. In this case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.
 
If you miss an appointment to receive your melphalan injection, contact your healthcare provider right away. He or she will tell you what to do next.
 

Is There a Generic Version?

Melphalan injection is available in generic form. However, melphalan tablets are not available as a generic medication (see Generic Alkeran).
